Project Overview

The fundamental tenet of Fabulaa was that everyone needed to be understood. But few people around us have trouble stringing words together. Conversational breakdowns are frequent in individuals with speech impairments, autism, or hard of hearing, among other conditions. Fabulaa was designed to give users access to resources that should make having routine daily talks less difficult.

Our Role

The client reached out to us for designing their application from the scratch. The main challenge was to add ACC cards and speak to text functionality. Our team began with researching and creating user flows and wireframes for the app. Once the app flow was approved by the client we delivered a reliable and consistent prototype for the client.

Design Process

process are as follows:

Our team adapted to 5-stage Design Thinking model to craft the perfect solution. The stages of this Design Thinking

1. Empathise, 2. Define, 3. Ideate, 4. Prototype, 5. Test.

Design Tools

Requirements

Mobile Application

The client wanted us to create a cross-platform mobile application for users to have a clear understanding of what they want to say or converse. They needed an application to enable Autistic people to equip individuals with tools that aim to ease the struggle of simple daily conversations.

Apart from this client asked us to make pre-selected themes for users so they can select the colors they want their app to look like.

Design

The client wanted easy-to-navigate and intuitive UI/UX designs for their applications. We mostly focused our research on creating n easy and better UX so that anyone can navigate through it hassle-free.

User Research

Research Strategy

We began our user research with the goal of better understanding our clients' and users needs. We began by investigating the industry and the factors affecting its growth.

As all such apps in the market were costly, our client wanted to create app that is accessible by all, regardless of age. So following the market research, our team discovered that the target customers were between the ages of 8 to 45.

The aim was to help our specially-abled people who face communication struggles by simplifying daily conversations with a tech-enabled solution with solution that is free, easy to use, and a simple click away.

Competitor Analysis

Our team tried to look for apps on the market that provide the same service for in-depth competition analysis. We targeted 5 different apps and used them as a benchmark to pass. And hence we decided to focus on these few main things:

  • User Interface

  • ACC cards UX

  • Speak to text

  • Versatility

  • Color theme Flexibility

  • Doodle UX

What We Delivered

Mobile App

We went for a cost-effective approach and created a cross-platform app. This also helped our team to deliver the product to our client faster. The app was multi-lingual with five different languages. Our team created a user experience that allows users of any age can use it hassle-free to communicate using audio-visual technologyUser Profile Management

Customers can quickly create tables in their profile thanks to seamless connectivity. Meanwhile, admins can keep track of all of their table bookings and behaviour during the chat, which will aid in better administration.

Speak to Text/ Audio-Visual Feature

This audio-to-visual feature for autistic people helps them to bridge the communication gap. With this feature, you can ask the user to speak on the app’s mic and then our AI converts that into text so that it helps the user to understand what the other person said.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (ACC) Cards

ACC cards is a unique feature for users to help them create sentences by selecting a combination of pictorial cards present in the app, there are 10 different categories of cards to choose from and approximately more than 150 cards from daily activities, nouns, relationships, food, to numbers, and alphabets.

Phrases

This feature is made by focusing on people with Speech impediment, or speech disorder in this feature user will get a few predefined phrases like "I want to drink water" or "I want to play" to inform people around them what they need without much efforts. User can also create their own phrases to ease the communication.

Scribble

What if there are few words they are not getting the image of and want to ask about it. Our client wanted kids to use their creative juices. Thus, this module is inspired by kids game of Pictionary. In this user can draw what they want to convey to the other person, they can also write as we do in paint apps to leave no stone unturned.

Settings

With this users can change the theme and orientation of the app according to their use. The can also change the audio to a feminine or masculine tone. This module will also help users to change the language according to their native language.
